Upon collision the watery orb transformed into steam, releasing Darce back into reality. Tears were still falling from his onyx, black eyes. Those tears soon dried after realization engulfed Darce's mind. This insane, mixed up situation caused Darce to sink to the ground. Rocking himself back and forth and muttering quietly to himself. "This can't be real" he said, "this has to be dream. I must be dreaming". This was it, Darce thought. After everything the worlds done to him, it was all going to drive him into insanity.
He was once again brought back to reality by Varick shaking him by the shoulders. "Dude" Varick said to him seriously. "You have to calm down. Sitting on the floor and talking to yourself isn't going to help the situation." Thinking about what Varick just said to him, Darce realized he was right. He began to calm himself down. And tried to gain better control of his breathing. And as he did the blue color faded from his eyes and bangs. As Varick witnessed this change in appearance he decided to look at his own reflection again. His eyes were once again back to its normal color and the highlights had faded from his hair. But his temperature, he noticed, was still noticeably high. "Ok" Varick said calmly as he took a seat on the ground. "Who do we tell about this? This isn't exactly something we can hide". Darce looked up at him, "Well, I'm not telling my family." he said quickly. A look of fear in his eyes. "Those people already think me and my brother are screw ups. I don't need them adding this to the list." Varick thought about what Darce had just said, "Yeah" he answered. "You're right. My dad tries to create the 'perfect family'." Varick mocked, as he used quotation marks. "He sees something like this and he'll probably disown me." Varick muttered regrettably. Both Varick and Darce's families weren't exactly the nicest bunch of people. Especially Darce's family. Darce's parents were the owners of this huge law firm. He had said their family had been in the law business since his great grandfather founded it. And Darces parents had this brilliant idea that they wanted all their children to follow in their footsteps and work there. Like it was some sort of creepy family dynasty they wanted to keep alive. And speaking of alive that was the very opposite of what the Grimm family was. The entire family wore fancy, dark clothing. The kind of clothing you would only see people wearing at a funeral. Mrs. Grimm went so far as to wear a dark violet dress, with a corset around the torso. And the family wasn't the kindest bunch of people either. Aside from Darce and his little brother the rest of the family was evil. The Grimm family always had a problem with the people Darce hung out with. They thought Varick was bad because he had a backbone. They thought Rae was too smart for her own good. And they especially didn't like Elizabeth because of her warm personality and her family. That and her father happened to work for them. "Who can we tell then?!" Varick asked, becoming impatient. There didn't really seem to be anyone they could tell except for Rae and Elizabeth. "What about Rae and Liz?" Varick finally suggested "I feel like we could tell them about this." Darce pondered on this for a moment. "Maybe" he finally answered, shrugging his shoulders. "But maybe we can tell them tomorrow. Right now we can't risk these....powers...getting triggered again. We should leave the school." he said finally. Varick nodded in agreement "Good idea. We can probably both act like we're sick, seeing as my head is still pretty warm. And you still look pale and clammy." Darce nodded at Varick's plan. And with that the two of them exited the science lab and made their way to the nurses office. Chapter 5: The Phoenix Both of the boys were allowed to go home. But that idea in itself had unplanned details. In order to fulfill the roles of being sick neither of them could walk home. And they both had to wait for their parents to pick them up from school. After about ten minutes of waiting in the office of the middle school, Mrs. Brenna finally showed up at the door. Followed by Mrs. Grimm, with her trademark glare. "You're father and I have better things to do then pick you up from school, Darcey." Mrs. Grimm hissed to her son. To be continued.............
