Varick, frustrated with his fathers endless enforcement of the rules, left for the bus stop in a huff. It had always annoyed him, the way his father and mother ran the house. And as he began to think about it more the more the veins in his head began to pop and his teeth began to clench. He continued to trail the side walk to the bus stop, passing a public trashcan on his way. He was pulled out his deep thoughts, however, when the trash can spontaneously caught on fire.
He stared at the flames for a moment in shock, how could a trashcan catch on fire all on its own? he thought. Looking around he saw no matches, no clouds to signify lightning, nothing. Dismissing the freakish burst of light Varick continued his path to the bus stop. When he got there he saw a three other children standing and talking. "Varick!" one of them screamed s they ran over to hug him. Taken back by the girls screaming Varick stood there in shock while the girl hugged him. "Oh, uh, hey Elizabeth". Elizabeth out of all of Varicks friends was always the most affectionate. And she constantly made people like her through that show of affection. "I sense tenseness in the upper back and shoulders." She said as she squeezed Varick a little tighter "What is troubling you?". Elizabeth's mother was a hippie who believed she could sense emotion. The ironic part was most of the time she was right. Having been the only girl in her family Elizabeth took on the same skill of reading people. It added more empathy to the affectionate person he already was. "Please Elizabeth" An annoyed voice said from behind "We've already been over this, you cannot sense emotions through hugs". Rae was the smart one of the group, no matter the problem or issue she could never go a minute without correcting someone on their mistake. The way people were able to tell was correcting someone was the way she pushed her glasses up in annoyance. "Rae why do you hate what you cannot calculate" Elizabeth said in a dreamy voice. That was another thing about Elizabeth, she was always so relaxed it was as if nothing in the world could bother her. "Because your hypothesis shows no evidence. It makes no sense. She said as she pinched her brown "Darce, Varick back me up here." Varick didn't say anything, not wanting to get involved in one of the many arguments Rae and Elizabeth had. "Just let Elizabeth do her thing Rae" Darce said simply. Then there was Darce, he was always the quite one of the group. In fact this was one of those rare days when he did say something. "See Darce thinks my powers are real!" Elizabeth said triumphantly. And as she made her point he went over to hug Darce, leaving Darce red in the face. As the bus rolled around the corner, Darce pointed at it silently. His arm shaking as he did. The bus rolled up to the bus stop and the four children boarded it. To be continued.........

The pedestal began to glow brighter and brighter, emitting a colorful rainbow of white, red, blue, and green. It continued to glow until finally the top of the pedestal emitted four orbs into the air. Scattering the orbs into the night sky. Causing a silent explosion of light into the dark night sky. Yet the explosion remained unbeknownst to the townspeople.
The figure stood there for a moment, taking the opportunity to put their staff back into their cloak. Having known its work was done, they disappeared into the night. Leaving only the sound of its heels crunching on the leaf scattered ground. And the sight of their cloak becoming luminous in the moonlight. Chapter 2: Emotion through hugs The neighborhood on Webster Lane was like any other neighborhood you would expect. Children ran the streets playing their simple games. The mail carrier went about its normal route of delivering the mail, and cars continued to enter and exit the streets. On Webster Lane their lived normal people going about their hectic routines of the morning. And in that particular lane lived the Brenna Family. The Brenna family was just like any other family on Webster lane. Mr. Brenna was the owner of a car lot and Mrs. Brenna was an underappreciated Secretary at Grimm law firm. The two of them had two children, Varick and Nimmy. The Brenna family was the picture of nuclear family, and they constantly saw to it that they appeared respectable. "Tily, darling" Mr. Brenna called as he straightened his tie for the hundredth time. "Remember I'm working late tonight. The board of directors is giving me an inspection. I need to make sure my employees appear competent. Mrs. Brenna walking down the sitars of their house, entered the kitchen. She gave her husband a kiss before leaving. "Good luck on the inspection dear, and remember I'm working late at the office tonight." And with that she left through the font door, briefcase in hand. Varick, in a rush, made his way down the stairs. Nearly knocking his father over in the process. Mr. Brenna, straightening up, stood tall with authority and stared at his son. "Varick" he began "we have rules in this family. And one those rules is not to run in the house". Varick rolled his eyes "Yes, father" he responded in a bored tone. The Brenna house was always very strict when it came to enforcing the rules. But Mr. Brenna saw to it the most that the rules were obeyed. "Good" Mr. Brenna stated "Now you know the rules, after you get home I want you to take out the trash." He stated firmly. And with that Mr. Brenna left the house to go to work. With rules in the Brenna house there came penalties. The system was the penalty was dependent on the rule that was broken. A minor rule like running in the house and knocking someone over resulted in a minor penalty, in Varick's case it was taking out the trash. Whereas a more major break for example a broken window or sneaking out would result in paying for the break or doing all the chores in the house. Along with appearing perfect Mr and Mrs. Brennan complemented their perfection with strict rules. Frustrated with his father's endless enforcing of the rules, Varick left the house to walk to the bus stop. To be continued..... Chapter One- The Moons Rays
The moon was shining bright over the town that night, the bald trees were becoming luminous in its earth consuming light. All that could be heard was the blowing of the wind and eerie movement of the leaves covering the ground. When suddenly in the moonlight, a figure could be seen arriving in the town. Walking at a fast pace, leaving the sound of its heels echoing on the pavement. No distinction could be made of who they were. Despite the moon shining on their face he or she still covered themselves with a hood. The figure continued to walk the streets of the town, occasionally glancing at the houses on either side of the street. They continued to walk until they reached the edge of the town. And at the edge of this particular town grew a large forest. The figure stopped for a moment as they reached the mouth of the forest, turning its head left and right. As if it was if it was searching or trying to avoid something from finding it. Reaching into its cloak the figure pulled out a strange, shiny stone. Looking at the stone for a moment, then throwing it on the ground. As they did the stone exploded, sending a purple force to scan the perimeter. A sound could be heard from that force, not a boom, not a crash, but a vibration. The noise was so intense that it began to shake the ground. Causing the trees to shake, sending more leaves to fall. Clearly the figure could not stand the stones vibrations either. Because when dropped the stone they quickly covered their ears. To their relief the intense shaking of the ground stopped. Cuing the figure to uncover their ears, then slowly enter the forest. Their cloak billowing in the wind as they continued their walk the path to the forests heart. Giving no sound but the crunch of their heels on leaf littered grounds. After ten minutes of walking they reached the heart of the forest. The figure looked up, all that could be seen was the moon in the center of the sky. Shining brightly over the heart of the forest, Illuminating the pasty skin of the figures hands. The figure once again reached into its cloak, pulling out not one but four stones. They drew a diamond around the center of where they once stood. They placed the stones in each corner of the shape, then moved away to wait. Wait for some type of reaction to come from the diamond and its stones. The ground began to shake once more, light glowing from each of the stones. Fueling the lines of the diamond with a violet glow. In the center of the diamond arose a cube shaped pedestal, with the most beautiful, shining exterior. It had white inscriptions on all four of its faces, similar to those of hieroglyphics. The figure gazed at the pedestal for a moment, its shining exterior putting them in awe. Then, breaking itself from the trance, the figure pulled a staff from its cloak. A long, wooden staff, with a crescent curve at its top end. Tapping the ground four times with its staff, the figure stood there, waiting. Suddenly light began to glow from the pedestal.....
